Raising Funds for a Friend

fandomcaresHi all. I'm trying to raise funds for a friend of mine in a bad situation. Known as ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
similiesslip, she is trying to extricate herself from a long-term marriage where her husband is emotionally and physically abusive. She wants to divorce and start a new life, but she has three children, and her husband has controlled the finances and tried to prevent her from holding a job. I am trying to raise funds to help her put a lawyer on retainer for her divorce and to help her to have some funds for leaving. I can vouch that this situation is completely legitimate, and that we are working to find her other resources (women's shelter, etc.) to ensure her safety and the safety of her little ones. As someone who was in a similar marriage for 8 years, I know that it can be very hard to break out of this cycle emotionally - it's even harder when you're tied up financially. Any help you can give would be appreciated - and if you can't give, please consider sharing this with others.
